Do not consume alcohol while using Celebrex as they can cause stomach problems if taken at the same time.
If you are taking Celebrex for a prolonged period of time your physician should monitor your progress on a regular basis.
If you are taking two or more nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs together on a regular basis you may increase the chance of side effects. If you are taking acetaminophen, aspirin or another ketorolac or salicylates on a regular basis while taking a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug there may be an additional chance of side effects. These risks are dependant on the amount of each drug taken each day and for length of time you take the drugs together. If your health care professional directs you to take these medicines together on a regular basis, follow his or her directions carefully. However, do not take acetaminophen or aspirin or other salicylates together with this medicine for more than a few days, and do not take any ketorolac (e.g., Toradol) while you are taking this medicine, unless your doctor has directed you to do so and is following your progress.
Serious side effects can occur during treatment with this Celebrex medicine and can occur without warning. Usually warning signs often occur before a serious side effect occurs including swelling of the face, fingers, feet, and/or lower legs; severe stomach pain, black, tarry stools, and/or vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds; unusual weight gain; and/or skin rash. If you notice any of these symptoms you should stop taking this drug immediately and check with your physician. Also, check with your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following after taking this drug: fever, drowsiness, itching of the skin, tiredness, nausea, or stomach pain occurs. These side effects may be an indication of liver toxicity.
The use of Celebrex may cause a serious allergic reaction called anaphylaxis. This is rare and usually only occurs in patients who are allergic to aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or sulfonamide-type drugs. This allergic reaction requires immediate medical attention! The most serious signs of this allergy are fast and/or irregular breathing, gasping for breath, wheezing, or fainting. Other signs could include changes in skin color, very fast but irregular heartbeat or pulse, hive-like swellings on the skin and puffiness or swellings of the eyelids or around the eyes. If any of these occur, seek medical attention immediately. Do not drive yourself to the hospital. Call an ambulance, or have another person drive you. If you have to wait for medical attention you should lie down, cover yourself to keep warm. Also elevate your feet higher than your head..
